Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Psalm 100:4

What We Believe

Absolute and unchanging moral truth exists and it’s found in God’s Word. The Bible, Old and New Testaments, is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and inspired by God. It is truth without error and is our final authority for faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 17:17; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12).

God is spirit and he is the all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere present, holy, creator and sovereign ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal and are one God (Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Deuteronomy 6:4; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; 1 Corinthians 8:6).

Jesus Christ is God in human flesh, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as a full payment for the sins of all people by dying on the cross in our place. He rose from the dead after 3 days demonstrating His victory over sin’s penalty. He ascended to heaven and will one day return to reign as King of kings (Matthew 1:22-23; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11).

We were created in the image of God, but Adam, in sinning (rebelling against God), brought both spiritual and physical death upon all humankind. We have no possible means within ourselves of recovery or salvation and we will one-day face eternal judgment (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13-16; Romans 3:10, 23; 5:8; 6:23; Revelation 20:11-15).

Salvation is a gracious gift from God received by faith in Christ alone as Savior and Lord. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Christ and what His death accomplished, can we have the penalty of our sin forgiven, can we be reconciled with God, and can we be given the security of eternal life and every resource needed for godly living; this is the gospel (John 3:16; 14:6; 17:3; Romans 6:23; 10:9-13; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:8-9; Revelation 20:15).

Made up of all Christ-followers, the church has been given the responsibility to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ; which includes: evangelizing the lost and building up believers; so that we will reflect in our lives both the character and priorities of Jesus Christ (Matthew 22:37-38; 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:1-6).

Worship – Living a life that expresses both the sufficiency of Scripture and the supremacy of Christ every day. (Joshua 1:8-9; Psalm 1; Matthew 22:37; Colossians 1:15-20; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 3:15). Growth – Pursuing spiritual growth and fruit in our lives and the lives of other Christ–followers by consistently practicing the disciplines of Bible study, prayer, personal obedience (John 15:8; 17:17; Galatians 5:22-23; Colossians 4:2-6; 2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Peter 1:14-16).

Connected in relationships with other believers that: provide mutual spiritual encouragement, offer accountability for spiritual integrity, and produce spiritual fruit and unity in the Church (Ephesians 4:1-16; Hebrews 10:24-25).

Serve and Give – Developing and deploying our natural talents and spiritual gifts to serve others (Matthew 22:38; Mark 10:45; 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Peter 4:10). Wisely using the resources God has given to us and recognizing that He is the true Owner of all things (Matthew 25:14-30).

Being “salt and light” in our world by practicing personal holiness, expressing biblical love toward each other, maintaining unity in the body of Christ and verbally sharing the gospel with others locally and around the world (Matthew 5:13-16; John 13:34-35; 17:23; Acts 1:8).

Midway’s Kid Zone is divided into three groups.  Our nurseries (infants to Jr. Preschoolers) use the Gospel Project for Babies and Toddlers Curriculum. Right now they are learning all about Jesus’ Ministry.  Our Kids Worship group is actually two groups. The first group is Preschoolers and Young Fives and they are using the Gospel Project for Preschoolers Curriculum. They are also studying Jesus’ Ministry.  The second Kids Worship group is the Kindergartners through Second graders.  This group is our bridge from knowing the stories to learning how to use our Bible and applying the stories in our everyday lives. The curriculum used is Explore the Bible. Genesis, Acts, and 1 Samuel are being studied this Fall.  The last group is Junior Bible Fellowship (grades 3rd-5th).  This group attends the church service and then they come to class during the adult and teen Sunday School hour.

Outside of Sunday mornings we offer Awana for ages 4 years old through 6th grade. This program is designed to help us reach the children in the communities surrounding our church with the love of Christ.

Since 2015 we have offered a summer class specifically for the children of the church ages kindergarten through 3rd grade.  This class gives the kids an opportunity to connect with each other during the summer when they may not see each other as often due to school being out and family vacations. A specific lesson is taught that is geared toward what the kids as a whole may be dealing with in their lives. We use crafts, games, food, singing, etc. to make it fun. We also gather for a picnic lunch after each class session.

In the summer we offer a non-traditional vacation bible school, Soccer Camp. It runs the first full week in August.  This camp allows us to share the gospel message with almost 200 children from the community.  We teach basic soccer skills, give away free stuff, sing, share Jesus, and have a ton of fun while doing it.

Midway Student Ministries exists to “Provide Teens with Hope and Purpose”.  Students today are bombarded with false truths about their identity, their value, and the reason they are here.  Primarily through biblical teaching and discipleship, but also utilizing events, activities and camp, MSM focuses on helping students know biblical truth to counter what the world offers.  We seek to train our youth for serving in our church and our community, recognizing they are not the Church of tomorrow, but are a vital part of the Church today.  By introducing students to Jesus, and helping them deepen their relationship with Him, we are able to provide our teens with hope and purpose.

Adult Bible Fellowship classes meet on Sunday mornings at 10:45am and allow people to engage with others in Bible study and basic levels of caring within mid-size groups of 15-35. Small groups are another important component with groups for women, men, couples, young adults and young families. Some of these groups are missional in their focus, while others are centered on Bible study, but they all include a deeper level of fellowship and caring for each other.

Women’s and Men’s Ministry Teams encourage the accomplishing of our mission – to make fully devoted followers of Christ who reflect both his character and his priorities by providing opportunities for adults to live out our core values of loving God, loving each other, and loving our world.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians 3:16
